Hokie families—are you ready? Fall Family Weekend is almost here! We’ve got some important information you should know before you arrive.
If you didn’t have a chance to register online, you can register on-site Friday or Saturday at the Fall Family Weekend Check-in and Information Center in Old Dominion Ballroom on the first floor of Squires Student Center. Your name tag will be your ticket into all Fall Family Weekend events, so make this your first stop!
Check-in and Information Center hours:
•Friday, Sept. 30: Noon to 7 p.m.
•Saturday, Oct. 1: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Weekend parking information:
To support Fall Family Weekend, Virginia Tech Parking Services will waive the visitor parking permit requirement beginning at noon on Friday, Sept. 30. Guests may park in non-24-hour restricted faculty/staff (F/S) spaces, and in regular commuter/graduate (C/G) spaces without displaying a visitor permit.
There are four 24-hour restricted parking lots you may not park in without a visitor permit: Owens lot, Dietrick lot, Basketball Practice Facility lot, and Basketball Practice Extension lot. Carpool spaces and service areas will still be enforced. Parking meters will need to be paid.
If you are arriving before noon on Friday, you can get a visitor parking pass from the Visitor’s Center at 965 Prices Fork Rd. Contact the Visitor’s Center at 540-231-3548 for more information.
Road closures: Southgate Drive will be closed Sept. 30-Oct. 2
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, Southgate Drive will be closed between Route 460 and Beamer Way while construction crews work to complete the roundabout. The road is expected to reopen late Sunday night, Oct. 2. In addition to Southgate Drive, Duck Pond Drive will also be closed at the intersection of Duck Pond and Southgate during that time. VDOT will have signs and barricades in place. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes such as Prices Fork Road to access campus. In the case of inclement weather, the closure will be rescheduled for the following weekend, Oct. 7 to 9. Detailed directions to campus are available online.
We hope the Fall Family Weekend schedule of events allows you to reconnect with your student in fun and informative ways. We are excited to welcome you to campus. See you this weekend!
